IPTV on a computer (Windows and Mac) with VLC and IPTV Smarters

A computer is handy for watching at the office or while travelling, and for quickly testing a new subscription before setting up the TV.

Method 1: VLC (fastest)

1. Install VLC media player from its official site (free; Windows, Mac, Linux).
2. Copy the M3U link from your subscription message.
3. In VLC: Media → Open Network Stream (or Ctrl+N), paste the link and press Play.
4. Open the playlist (Ctrl+L) to see and search the channels.

VLC shows channels only — no programme guide and no separation of movies and series. Fine for testing and quick viewing.

Method 2: IPTV Smarters for desktop

1. Download the Windows or Mac version from the app's official site.
2. Open it and choose Login with Xtream Codes API.
3. Enter the username, password and server address.
4. The full interface appears: Live, Movies, Series, EPG and favourites.

Alternatives

• Kodi with the PVR IPTV Simple Client add-on: very flexible but takes longer to set up.
• MyIPTV Player from the Microsoft Store: simple, Windows only.

Tips

• The Xtream server address is written in full with http:// and the port, e.g. http://example.com:8080.
• If you get audio without video or the reverse, change the video output in VLC settings (Direct3D11 ↔ OpenGL).
• Company or university networks may block non-standard ports; try from another network before concluding the subscription is down.
