Xtream Codes vs M3U: what is the difference and which should you use?
Both formats open the same subscription. The difference is in the interface, the programme guide and which apps support each.
When you receive a subscription from the store you usually get both formats. Both open the same line on the same server; the difference is in how the app reaches the content.
Xtream Codes API
Three fields: server address, username and password. The app talks to the server directly and requests channels, movies and series as separate sections, with artwork, a programme guide (EPG) and movie details.
- Suits: IPTV Smarters, XCIPTV, IBO Player, TiviMate, SmartOne — any modern app.
- Benefit: full interface, clear sections, lists refresh automatically.
M3U link
One link that returns a text file with every channel (and sometimes movies) in one long list. It works in any player that accepts playlists.
- Suits: VLC, Kodi, older receiver players, some LG/Samsung TVs through M3U apps.
- Benefit: works almost everywhere; handy for a quick test.
- Drawback: no sections, artwork or programme guide (unless you add a separate EPG link), and big lists load slowly.

Converting between them
An M3U link is built from the same Xtream details in this form: http://SERVER:PORT/get.php?username=USER&password=PASS&type=m3u_plus&output=ts. The reverse holds too: from an M3U link you can read the server, username and password. If you want us to prepare the other format, message us on WhatsApp.
Which one to choose?
Xtream whenever your app supports it. M3U only for players that accept nothing else, or for a quick test in VLC as in the computer guide.
